Another Band Camp Story

Mr Evill Jr (9:43:23 PM): so this one time at band camp
Mr Evill Jr (9:43:47 PM): my teacher was talking about moments in life when you want something to happen
Mr Evill Jr (9:44:10 PM): or rather, things in life that you must do
Mr Evill Jr (9:44:29 PM): don't wait till you feel like doing it
Mr Evill Jr (9:44:38 PM): that leads to something that we all know as procrastination
Mr Evill Jr (9:45:01 PM): if anything, take the lead and gain CLOSURE for your soul !
joanhaaalili (9:45:22 PM): (:
joanhaaalili (9:45:23 PM): aw
joanhaaalili (9:45:29 PM): that was cute

Even though there is no profession to be gained from Marching Band (aside from musicianship and becoming a teacher), being involved with band has taught me so many life lessons to be utilized in life. It has been 4 years since I entered the walls of Hughes Middle School. At first, I didn't know what I have gotten myself into. After all, I was only in Marching Band to avoid taking regular PE (in which, in a way, that has succeeded. I have never taken regular PE in high school.) But everything that I have gained through 'band camp', and my musical life in general has made me a better person than I was before, although to my closest friends, that is hard to believe. So many philosophies learned; so many disciplines gained; so much music played; so much sweat poured, but in the end, it is all worth it on the path of becoming a better human being.

Thank you band camp =] And being section leader now doesn't hurt either.

Greatest Sin

"Now, no matter what the mullah teaches, there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft... When you kill a man, you steal a life, you steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness. Do you see? There is no act more wretched than stealing, Amir. Aman who takes what's not his to take, be it a life or a loaf of naan...I spit on such a man. And if I ever cross paths with him, God help him. Do you understand?"
-Baba from
The Kite Runner
pgs 17-18

Well, so far I'm loving the Kite Runner. It is actually a pretty damn good book =] So today I went out to work out with my band friends (more like my sax section) and got them to do some marching basics. And surprisingly, Mr. Stevens came by to visit. o__O After that, I went to Monico's place to scare the crap outta him and then go get Joan at Chini's place after, then go get Arie back at Monico's house. maan. Then we ended up eating at a Crepes place, which by the way was bomb, yet pricey. I had Franchi- i mean Fetuccini Alfredo, Strawberry raped crepe, and a little bit of Spaghetti. And our waiter was hella chill. Later we went to PAC Camp and just did random things form there.

I feel like that she is robbed of opportunities, or rather, experiences.

Remains from the Heart

So I was looking at Paul's myspace earlier, looking back on his words, and for some reason, I feel like that one of the very things that he behind was words for someone that believes that she isn't loved, but is oblivious to those close to her.

What I Like About You by Paul Michael A. Alindog

I love you for the person you are
and for who I have become since
we've me.

I love you for overlooking my flaws
and weaknesses and for drawing out
the good things in me.

I love you for believing in me in a
way that makes me believe too.

I love you because of the way we can
talk together and with the openness
comes closeness.

I love you because you have brought
more happiness into my life than I ever
thought possible.

I lve you because you are honest with
me and with that honesty comes trust.

I love you for the good and giving
person you are.

Misery Business

Youtube crushes for the fail anyone?? xD

Musicality points raised to the MAX!!

So I haven't blogged in awhile. I don't know why, I just lost the feeling for a bit. In a strange way, I made up for my lack of blogging through talking to myself in the shower 0_O yeaahh.. I don't think thats healthy for the soul xD

As Joan puts it, "Oh my soul!" ;]

Speaking of which, so this week has been filled with non-stop missions left & right, picking up people, raiding other people's houses and what not. Downtown adventures for the win =] However, beach trips for the fail. So we have officially came across our first bitter ending with some buddies that we met from Oklahoma. The day started crazy, and ended with the girls LEAVING US TO PAY THE BILL *insert angry face* well that was an epic fail. Although during that same day, we (the boys) got meet up with Lolo, Rica and surprisingly Franchini over at Frogurts =] I consumed one of the hardest 'ice' creams ever and basically downed Lolo's tea. Woohoo.

Maann, I can't get my blogging thoughts straight. I guess that this is why I kinda strayed away from blogging for the past week. I need to get things straight with my life and the people in my life that I care about.

Speaking of which, I have a very strong feeling that I need to talk to somebody and finally bring peace not only to myself, but hopefully the other.

However, the problem is whether I have the balls to talk to this person again or not. For some reason, I feel fear for the first time in awhile.

The Paradox of Our Age

Taken from Ramon's myspace. Holy shit.

all I can say that this is EPIC!

We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
we spend more, but have less;
we buy more, but enjoy it less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
we have more degrees, but less common sense;
more knowledge, but less judgment;
more experts, but more problems;
more more medicine, but less wellness.
We spend too recklessly,
laugh too little,
drive too fast,
get too angry too quickly,
stay up too late,
get up too tired,
read too seldom,
watch TV too much,
and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom and lie too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life;
we've added years to life, not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We've conquered outer space, but not inner space;
we've done larger things, but not better things;
we've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
we've split the atom, but not our prejudice;
we write more, but learn less;
plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait;
we have higher incomes, but lower morals;
more food but less appeasement;
more acquaintances, but fewer friends;
more effort but less success.
We build more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication;
we've become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion;
tall men and short character;
steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare;
more leisure and less fun;
more kinds of food, but less nutrition.
These are days of two incomes, but more divorce;
of fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one-night
stands, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the show window,
and nothing in the stockroom.

Diamond in the Rough

So I spent the weekend of August 7-9th at Diamond Bar with CJ, Gary, Chini, Lorlene, Rica, Joan, and Ramon =] And boy things went DOOWWN xD Well as of right now, I'm hella restless and can't seem to get myself asleep while Ramon stays awake as well (probably due to my 'high' nature as of now). I know I'm gonna hella regret not falling asleep. x[

This post will be editted later as soon as I get my thoughts straight.

-Edit-
My thoughts are basically similar this guy's.

It all begins with over 140 miles of straight up driving...

Venting Punching Bag

Well I gotta admit; Wednesday August 5th, 2009 marks the first day where I actually wasted gas going back & forth to Long Beach. All I pretty much did was watch Teen Titans and knock out. Epic fail of planning much? Although having dinner with the family after church was nice =]

So hopefully today won't be a fail again like yesterday. Got some filming plans and gotta get my mom's money.

So for the past MONTH, I have become what I dub as everybody's Venting Punching Bag (or VPB for short). On one side of the coin, its nice to know that people trust me with their feelings, but on the other hand, I wouldn't know what to say or do to comfort the person. I'll be honest, I don't have the counseling skills like Daniel to make a person go from insecure to happy. As a matter of fact, I would consider myself the last person to go to for consoling. But then thats just feeling pessimistic. Well I guess I'm not doing any better considering the fact that my personal VPB is my closest friends and blogging. xD Epic Fail right? Anyways, recently I've been getting closer to people who I would of NEVER thought I'd get closer to in this lifetime. Its pretty cool =] And I've just used up my minutes on what I would normally use up in a YEAR in just the span of a week (you know who you are!!). Well, all I gotta say is "HELLO HIGH CELL PHONE BILLS" XD

Well, in other news, I'm gonna be heading out to Diamond Bar soon (if its even really a city), for a late b-day party ;] This is going to be one hella of a weekend. Heart 2 Hearts much?

A House is NOT a Home

Its the family that is there for you that makes a house truly a home :D

Sunday:
Anyways, so from Sunday till Tuesday, I freaking did not go home. On Sunday, it was Franchini's birthday, so my day started with her calling me to wake up. G'dammit I wanted more sleep, but meh. After FINALLY refilling up my gas of tank, I went off to do some chores and eventually go to church. After, I went to Buena Park to get CJ from Lyle's place, then went to CJ's place for him to take a shower, and then we finally met up with Chini, Joan, and Ramon. After some quick chat, we spontaneously decided to go driving around, with me being the taxi driver T____T

So after a fail trip at Signal Hill, we then went to In-n-Out on PCH, where we met up with the guys that me & CJ spontaneously met at Town Center a while back. So while everyone else was doing their own thing, I bought them fries. After that, I took everybody back to their respective homes (even Ramon's, which was a surprise in itself), and met Chini's mom & dad. =] I swear freaking CJ is a hardcore MILF-er. xD

So after all that, we met up with Arie & Gary at CJ's house, only to find out that Gary was leaving right on the spot, so Arie decided to sleepover with us for the night. We wasted our lives on Brawl and youtube videos into the late night...

Monday:
Come next day, I wake up to the fact that I GOT A FREAKING PARKING TICKET FOR STREET SWEEPING :( Sucks so bad. Anyways, Joshua (CJ's lil bro) comes in, so we had to babysit him along with CJ until 5pm. We wasted our lives on brawl and Portal just to pass the time. By the time CJ's mom got back, me & CJ went out to go grocery shopping :) While we were shopping, freaking people kept on texting me like crazy, so I couldn't look for the proper cabbage to pick up. Anyways, after some trouble with the cash register, we went home to a pissed off mother and eventually son (CJ), so what ended up happening is while CJ & I drove off to get CJ's haircut, we accidentally left Arie behind with the angry mother and spoiled baby. A Fail Haircut and a Pinky Promise later, we finally went back to the apartment, where I talked to this one person on the phone while CJ was off doing his own thing. Somehow, we spontaneously decided to sleepover at Gary's place. We packed our stuff, and snuck out into the night to Carson.

Arriving there, Gary was hungry and wanted us to go out into the night again to go buy some food. So at 12 am, we went out to a freaking Jack in the Box and got some curly fries and what not to satiate our fatasses :D Arriving back, I watched the Prestige on Gary's PS3, then knocked out while CJ was attempting to learn how to drive Stick-shift.

Tuesday:
Waking up to Courage the Cowardly Dog on screen, I immediately got up to call up Monico to see if we were gonna follow through on the Tuesday plan. After some Supreme Court of Comedy and showering, me, CJ & Gary were off to get Daniel & Monico. Getting Daniel was easy; getting Monico was hard. Y'see, when we went to Monico's place, the first thing that he wanted to do was get a hair cut, and that immediately put a dent into everybody's agendas. Although, seeing Monico again after 2 WEEKS was a nice little reunion :) So while Monico was getting his hair cut, Daniel decides that he wants go to Cal Rec real quick, so he and I busted a mission there, and turns out that he didn't see anyone worth talking to there, so we headed back to the hair cut to get the rest of the gang, and then went back to Monico's again. Daniel decided to stay in the car while me, CJ and Gary went to Monico's house to go get him out ASAP.

Airconditioning is a God-Sent object :)

Several money issues later, we all FINALLY head out to Hooters ;] Daniel & I got some endless wings, while the rest of them got 5pcs to 10 pcs of wings. Freaking the ladies accidentally gave me some 3mile hot wings, so eating the wings suddenly became a chore to me. We then busted out to CJ's place again, where we met up with Rochelle and what not, and decided to head out to Huntington Beach...

Gary intended to ask out Rochelle at the beach, so we left those 2 alone, and Daniel, Monico, & CJ & I decided to split up to do our own things for some odd reasons. While Cj & I were looking for the people we were supposed to meet up with, we somehow come across these 2 girls that ewre laughing at us and gave CJ a compliment about his uke playing. We were weirded out at first, but then we decided to move on. Met up with Arie & Denise later, where Denise pulled off a WHOLE STACK OF PAPERS, showing them to CJ one by one. I thought that Denise was gonna ask him out, but it turns out that she used up a WHOLE bunch of papers just for a DAMN HUG! o_O So she got that, and then me, CJ & Arie ended up following Denise into the pier nearby, going into some kinky shops along the way. Denise somehow ended up PUNCHING ME IN THE DAMN FACE & CHEST, and yeaah.

After that, I officially dubbed Denise as the "demon child".

Moving on, after getting back to the pit, Monico and Daniel soon followed, while the 3 of us plus Denise went to the ocean. For some odd reason, she posed an out-of-character question and said...

"Does heaven exist?"

Arie & I gave her contradictory answers due to our different points of view, but then she ended up saying "same", so I have no idea who she was agreeing with xD So just to sum it all up, the bonfire thing was meh, except for the fact that Rochelle and Gary are official "B-fran" and "G-fran"(chini) xD Thats their own little lingo that I will comprehend in a thousand years T_T Along the way back to my car, me & Daniel somehow come across the SAME 2 GIRLS me & CJ came across EARLIER, and one thing led to another, and eventually somehow me & CJ (he soon joined us) got their numbers & contacts. Btw, these girls were from Oklahoma, so I have strong doubts that we are ever gonna see them again, but who knows? So me and Daniel had some jealously issues over the houses as we walked back to my car, which was freaking so far away from the beach. :(

We got back, picked up the rest of the slow people, and CJ & Monico bugged me about cutting my hair the ENTIRE ride! Somehow by some cruel twist of fate, even FRANCHINI got involved in this T__T What the hell!? I'm still not cutting my hair to a Line-Up anytime soon guys. So I dropped off those 2 bastards at Town Center, then took Daniel home, where I got dicked by Daniel by the U-Haul truck that was infront of his house. The rest of the way home, I just listened to some 103.5 love songs on the coast again...

Back at home, I realized my aim got hacked, so I finally changed my password, and logged on :) I think chini is a liar, but anyways, I had some interesting talk with Joan, but I think I didn't help out her situation. Thats what I get for trying to play preacher :( So as of now, I'm just copacetic that I'm home for once, & really fatigued from driving around for the past 3 days.

& I gotta do some more driving this week too x____X

The Drunken Generation

So basically my day parallels with this guy's.

First, I asked my grandma where the ironing board was. She asked me why I needed, considering the fact that I don't usually do laundry, and then I showed her a purple top. She immediately said "Oh its for you girlfriend! Okay, wait till Tita Ebie is done with...the patients." I then told Nanay [thats what I call my grandma] that I don't have a girlfriend T___T. Then she calls me a liar x__X Anyways, it wasn't malicious or anything. Just pretty humorus coming from her. Thats why I like her more :D

I get to CJ's house only to find a knocked out Gary, chinese food and CJ & his mom talking about money. They officially want a studio. Then Daniel comes along and then Dan & Gary head to Regency while me & CJ headed to Wal-Mart to look for a Firewire cable. Unfortunately that was a fail, so we met up with Gary & Daniel at Regency, and I got free games of Maximum Tune (which I suck horribly at by the way). AND NO; I WILL NOT GET A CARD AND BE SUCKED IN TO THE MAXIMUM TUNE WORLD!!! xD So then we went to Pino's after (I swear I think thats gonna be our new HQ now), with Daniel & CJ scarfing on the wings while I struggled into finding words to put onto this birthday card. After, we went back to CJ's place to pick up some things, and then headed to Dion's place to party...

And then this is when stuff happens.

So the first thing we come across is Dreidel on the street. I was tempted to run her over, but she ran outta the way, so I couldn't hit her. Danggit. Anyways, after finding some fail parking, we went inside to find a few people and have some small talk. After 5 minutes, CJ & I left for a bit to go to Radio Shack to find some Firewire cables again. This time, we found them, but it costed 27 dollars, and plus it was a weak-sauce cable, so we didn't get it.

Then we head back, and the number of people that was there increased to 10 average. There was someone actually pretty cute among them =] As more people were coming in, it started to become a middle school reunion of sorts. All these characters from Hudson started flowing in left and right. It was cool, especially a drunk Bernardo (which I'll get back to later). So a man named John Kevin enters the scene, and all of a sudden asks me if I can pick up Joan, Rica, and Joan's sister [sorry I forgot her name]. And so I caved in. JK & I had some small talk going, and then the girls showed up. They gave me a strange look at first, but eventually they figured out who I was. x] When I got back once again, even MORE people were there. I swear this thing that started out as a kickback became a party REALLY fast. From dancing to food to old friends back in the day. It was all pretty cool. Until the alcohol came in. Man, that was a killer for me, so basically I had to deal with drunk people left and right, and eventually CJ & Gary later that night. Although I gotta admit, seeing some people drunk is actually pretty hilarious like Bernardo; he asked me for a piggy back ride, in which I gave him one albeit struggling.

So here I am, hopping from people to people, trying to talk to those still sober enough to keep a good conversation going, and this is where I meet Ashley Nguyen =] I'm surprised that even though she had her own personal bottle of liquor, she was still sober enough to engage conversation with. So yeah chit chat chit chat blah blah blah until Joan & Co. ask me to give them a ride back. I was iffy at first, considering the gas in my tank, but when Joan pulled my keys toward her, well lets just say I couldn't deny the request (and plus she was buzzed so I didn't want her to get into any more trouble than it needed to be). So I dropped them off back, got 3 bucks for gas, and headed back once more. The first thing that I come across is drunk people on the floor. It was a really depressing sight to see, especially in the dark. So I had to ask Roben to open the gate for me since the people next to it couldn't move their bodies to do so. Surprisingly, Ashley actually waited, but then Daniel, CJ & Gary agreed to bounce the place. Gary & Daniel headed to the car, while I wanted to say my farewells to people, and get contact info from some of the new people I met like Ashley and what not. Eventually, the four of us made it to the car, but CJ & Gary were hella buzzed/drunk...

I decided to drop off Gary home first since he was actually the closest to where the party was. Driving along the freeway, Gary & CJ were doing some of the funniest/dumbest things imaginable, while Daniel & I looked at each other and laughed xD Well, until I missed Gary's original freeway exit and had to take directions from a drunk guy.

Drunk backseat driving for the fail?

Anyways, the random drunkeness continued, until CJ yelled 'Beaner" out the car. Thats when Daniel expoded and told them the shut up. So eventually Gary & CJ were dropped off at Gary's place, and I got some more gas money to survive. While I was on my way to drop Daniel off, we had a long talk about our corrupted generation. I love it when Daniel and I have these type of conversations; it lets Daniel bust out his "mexican skills", and I get to learn some new things and its just plain good for the ears =] So now me & Daniel have another reason to like each other more: we will be the sober ones at a party involving alcohol.

Eventually, I dropped him off, and started to listen to some 103.5 love songs on the coast on the way back. I don't know why, but lately I've been listening to that station a lot. I finally get home and call Chini, where I get 'cockblocked' by Monico along the way. xD G'dammit! So I waited till 11:58 to call her back and tell her happy birthday =] Btw, happy belated birthday Dion and happy cake day to Franchini xD

Now that I think about it, I think using the words 'honey' and such was probably not a good idea xD

Anyways, I just got a random text message from Ashley, so as Daniel always ends his blogs...

"Till next time..."

Bittersweet

Part 1: My Typical Day

Thursday July 30th: Dicked Arie into thinking that I drove all the way to Vegas. Man that was hilariousx ] So anyways, Arie and I basically chilled at CJ's place the whole time wasting our lives on Brawl, Pino's Pizza, and Regency games. After tasting CJ's bitterness in terms of brawl, I hear my phone ring in fear that the person calling was my mom telling me to go home. However, it turns out that the person calling me was none other than Franchini o__O Haha. While I was talking to her on the phone, I epically went into the swimming pool without getting the phone wet ;)

Somehow, I got dragged into sleeping at CJ's later [also I didn't feel like driving home], so CJ & I took the opportunity to learn how to play Piano some. :] So comes 2am, Ann and AJ come in an dbust in into the apartments and stuff. FREAKING CRAZY. In the end, Ann & CJ reconnected [on the floor under the sheets] and AJ and I ate some chicken wings that he found in the freezer. Then MOAR BRAWL. We officially wasted our lives that night.

So comes the next day, and the first thing that happens is a youtube video of 'Dora the Explorer' - Catholic style o___O Very random... So I epically failed in waking up CJ, forgetting that I was 'supposed' to take him to Kathleen's place in Cerritos. After that, I went back to Poly for some band stuff :]

Sectionals - Man...my 1st sax sectional as a section leader = fail. xD So the marching band's goal that day was to be able to play and march at the same time, but unfortunately, we were the only section that didn't get music, so what I had the saxes do was do marching basics. And even so I epically failed x] The drum majors had to cover for me x[

So by the end of the day, I spontaneously thought of organizing a workout day for the saxes before band camp. Cause being in band camp in 3 years without prepping first is HELL. So I want to be prepared for the freaking burnage x]

Anyways, I got some chinese food for CJ to eat at his place and went to CVS to get a birthday card for someone. When I went back to his place, I decided to take some singing lessons :] It was surprisingly interesting. But unfortunately I still suck at singing. So the rest of the day was spent getting owned in Brawl by CJ, and phone calls from Chini.

Part 2 The Deep Stuff:

I have realized that some friendships can only last so long. While some are durable as rocks, but are rough on the outside, there are those friendships that look beautiful like glass, but yet so fragile at the same time. As for the friendships I developed, I pray to believe that the close friends I have now will be the ones that I stick with for a life time =] They are THAT worth it. We may not be perfect, but we are able to overcome many obstacles that come our way. Hell we even went through death together.

However, if these friendships are meant to be, I guess that they gotta taste the 'bitter' before getting to the 'sweet'.

Hypothetically, what would you do if you were back stabbed by your 'best friend'? Leave a comment down below on this one.
